THE BIG NEWS, as may be obvious by the need for a sexy new website, is that I'm now pimping myself out as a freelancer having spent the last three years in a staff position at Popkorn TV. I've spent most of my TV years before that either in other staff positions, in more general 'edit assistant' roles, or gfx/edit hybrid roles.
It remains to be seen how successful this move will turn out to be, as I'm not famously a super-social person, don't have that many contacts, and am unsure of the demand for yet more graphics people in London, but anyway that is the situation I'm now in!
I mean I do have the skills to pull off the work - I consider myself quite pro in my field now - but the real challenge is going to be the self-motivation and persistence when going through the inevitable low-morale slower periods. Even when I don't have work on I'll need to be enthusiastically (or at least effectively) chasing work leads, or at the very least doing other creative learning/experimenting that fuels my brain and maybe even increases my appeal to future clients.
Anyway here goes!
